Our early days in the hotel trade
1984
Bertrand Rioux buys the Auberge des Gouverneurs in Matane.
1987
Extension work and renovations begin at the hotel in Matane. During the same year, Bertrand Rioux purchases the Monaco des Monts hotel in Sainte-Anne-des-Monts with a view of developing a hotel circuit on the Gaspé Peninsula.
The coming of the 2nd generation
1989
François Rioux joins the team and becomes manager at the hotel in Matane.
1990
François Rioux becomes manager of the hotel group.
The birth of Groupe Riôtel on the Gaspé Peninsula
1994
The Rioux family buys the Le Château Blanc hotel in Bonaventure and the Auberge de la Montagne in Percé.
1997
Groupe Riôtel Hospitalité is founded and a five-year renovation plan put into action.
2003
Groupe Riôtel purchases the Bonaventure sur Mer hotel in Percé, which becomes Riôtel Percé.
Groupe Riôtel expansion
2014
The group invests $8 million in a project to renovate and expand Riôtel Matane. Renovations end in 2015 and Matane is now home to a world-class hotel.
2015
The family’s third generation at the helm of Riôtel Matane! Marie-Frédérick Rioux becomes manager of Riôtel Matane.
