Find out just how creative and unique Gaspésians are! The Gaspé Peninsula is a source of endless inspiration for creative, talented and ingenious people, such as the jeweler Martin Boucher-Arsenault, AKA Wazo, who creates jewelry from animal, plant and mineral sources, or the painters Mylène Henry, Gilles Côté and Yves Gonthier, who draw inspiration from the Gaspésian landscape, flora, fauna, people and the sea… The Gaspé Peninsula has a rich creative heritage and there are loads of artistic and cultural activities all around the region!
Day 1
Destination: Gaspé Peninsula!
Head to Sainte-Flavie and follow the art trail, there are many different galleries, boutiques and expositions to see. Visit the Centre d’art Marcel Gagnon, whose work is world famous. On the way back to Matane, stop off a the Atelier Bertrand and admire his products made from driftwood. Back in Matane, visit Espace F, a broadcast and production centre for photography, video and new media.

Day 2
Parc National de Miguasha and artist workshops
On the way to Bonaventure via the Matapedia Valley (275 km), stop off at Savonnerie du village, in Ecuminac, where you can find out how they make their goat’s milk products. Then head to the Parc National de Miguasha: its fossilized cliff is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Finally, visit multi-disciplinary artist, Yves Gonthier’s art gallery, in Maria.

Day 3
Discover Bonaventure’s heritage
Visit the Musée acadien du Québec in Bonaventure, where you can learn more about our rich Acadian heritage through several different activities. Then stop off at Verre et Bulles, an art workshop and boutique. Finally, let your creative side out to play at Ateliers du funambule. You could also go to Paspébiac to visit the Banc-de-Pêche-de-Paspébiac historical site and see how the fishing trade developed on the east coast.

Day 4
Time travel in Percé
You have to stop off at the Site Mary Travers Dite La Bolduc, in Newport, which showcases Quebec and French-speaking Canada’s first female author-composer-interpreter’s work. Then visit the gallery and at the Vieille Usine in L’Anse-à-Beaufils, check the listings while you’re there maybe you can catch a show! Travel back in time in Percé at the Magasin Général Historique Authentique 1928. Finally, stop off at Wazo, a boutique selling Martin Boucher-Arseneault’s jewelry.

Day 5
Parc National de l’Île-Bonaventure-et-du-Rocher-Percé
Take a boat trip out to the Parc National de l’Île-Bonaventure-et-du-Rocher-Percé. You can get off at Bonaventure Island to admire the impressive Northern Gannet colony. In the afternoon, visit the painter, Mylène Henry’s workshop, Marie-Josée Tommi’s ceramics workshop, and the Le Chafaud museum that promotes Percé’s artistic and cultural heritage.

Day 6
Art and culture on the northern edge of the Gaspé Peninsula
Stop of at the Musée de la Gaspésie, in Gaspé, we would also suggest that you stop in Petite-Vallée to see the Théâtre de la Vieille Forge, a concert hall and song interpretation centre. Then head to Sainte-Anne-des-Monts and visit Nathalie Dumouchel’s ceramics workshop.
